Kristin Junkas, DVMWright Animal Hospital’s Kristin Junkas, DVM has joined the Advisory Board of the Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness’s Veterinary Outreach Program, "Fighting Ovarian Cancer with Animal Passion." For Dr. Junkas, who has a special interest in oncology and provides chemotherapy for her own patients, this is a perfect partnership. She will also be participating in a study for AB Science later this year, which will further advance knowledge of chemotherapeutic agents on certain types of cancer.

Research shows that pet owners feel comfortable discussing their own health issues with their veterinarians. As part of a human/animal healing experience strategy, OCSA has teamed up with the AVMA and ISVMA to spread awareness among the veterinary population. Approximately 80% of graduating veterinarians are female, but ovarian cancer affects us all. OCVA will award three $5000 scholarships to veterinary students starting in 2013. An award dinner will be held at Chicago’s Four Seasons Hotel on July 21, 2013. Visit Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness's website for further details.
